Eurodisney

The original intention for Euro Disney was that half of the hotels would be designed by Americans and the other half by Europeans. Our first efforts were directed toward developing several proposals for the economy ‘tourist class’ motel category.

The Disney enthusiasm was so great that a study for a luxury hotel on a lake was commissioned, along with designs by Nouvel, Hollein, Tigerman, Venturi and Graves. Soon after Stern remarked “the European architects are endangering the idea of Disney” they were all simultaneously, perhaps justifiably, dismissed.
