Seoul is the outcome of a struggle between city and landscape. It is not known for its beauty, but the conflict between mountains and architecture makes many parts surprisingly beautiful.
In this conflict between landscape and building, both tend to lose: the architecture spoils the landscape; the landscape makes it impossible to plan a coherent project. Here, we have investigated whether we could create a synthesis of landscape and architecture that would generate a new, softer urban condition.
